Mrs. Davison NSHS ~ 10H
Group Work for Week #1 of Frankenstein (pgs. 1-76)
A Gothic Story
Your mission this week is to create a Gothic story in Epistolary format that contains the following:
1. An Epigraph
2. An Allusion to Frankenstein (to a particular aspect of the story as appears in pgs. 1-76)
3. Foreshadowing
Your finished product will be…
#1: A Gothic story, containing the elements of Gothic storytelling we reviewed last week (See handout on Setting, Characterization, Plot & Theme).
#2: An Epistolary story.
An epistolary novel is a novel written as a series of documents. The usual form is letters, although diary entries, newspaper clippings and other documents are sometimes used. Recently, electronic "documents" such as recordings and radio, blogs, and e-mails have also come into use. The word epistolary comes from the Latin word epistola, meaning a letter.

*Each member of your group will be responsible for one piece of writing in this story, be it in letter, diary, newspaper, or email format. You can tell the story as a series of letters from one person to the other, or letters that go back and forth between two people (maybe even three if necessary). The choice of form is up to you but there should be some consistency between group members so that you end up with a coherent story. In order to do this you will have to:
1. Write an outline for your story
2. Decide who will write which part
3. Decide which format to tell the story in (And think about WHY you are choosing that format. What does the format contribute to the story you are trying to tell?).
In Class: You will be given class time to read Frankenstein, meet with your group, complete your writing for this project.
Due Date: Friday, May 7th
